ABOUT
THE LANTERN
Dear
Guest,
Nasser
and I have been married for thirteen years and have a daughter who
attends a local school. I am British while Nasser was born and bred
in Luxor itself. We met in Luxor and have lived there throughout our marriage.
We
opened the first Lantern Restaurant in Medina Street seven years years ago.
It was a small place but had a wide menu and was successful from the
start. A year later we extended it into the shop next door which doubled
its size but we quickly outgrew it again. Then four years ago we moved to
our present premises in Al Roda al Sharifa Street. These premises were totally renovated in November 2009.
The
success of The Lantern has been through us giving attention to detail
and having a constant desire to please our customers. The restaurant area is my territory as I watch throughout the evening
to make sure that all our customers are served as quickly as possible.
The kitchen area is Nasser’s domain, with the assistance of Jabba
and Ibrahim. I spend my evening in the restaurant but my afternoons
in the kitchens as I am also the main dessert and specials cook.
The Lantern is pleased to offer its support to Little Stars, a British charity that runs two clinics for disabled children, distributes food parcels and helps pay school fees for disadvantaged children in Luxor.
We
hope that you will visit us soon and add your comments to our visitor’s
book, entries from which have been put on our Diner's Comments page
of this website.
Best
wishes,
Debbie
